Sports Research Keto Plus is a dietary supplement designed to be used alongside a low-carb ketogenic diet. It’s a powder that, when mixed with water, provides the user with an abundance of exogenous ketones. Exogenous ketones are the same as the ketones produced by your body when it is deprived of carbs.

Keto Plus also contains amino acids, which are the building blocks of protein. Amino acids are good for muscle building, muscle preservation during a low-calorie diet, and can also be a source of non-caloric energy. They have weight loss and fat burning properties too.

Available in four flavors, each tub of Keto Plus contains 30 servings and is supplied with a measuring scoop.

What are the Ingredients?

A lot of nutrition supplements hide their ingredients within proprietary blends, which means they list the substances in their products, but not the amounts. Keto Plus has a much more transparent label, which means all ingredients and quantities are clearly shown.

The active ingredients in Keto Plus are:

  • Calcium, sodium, potassium, and magnesium beta-hydroxybutyrate (BHB)
  • L-leucine
  • L-lysine
  • Acetyl-L-carnitine

BHB ketones are chemically similar to the ketones that your body produces during ketosis. When you stop eating carbs, your body has to turn to fat for fuel. However, your muscles and brain can’t run on fat, so your body turns fatty acids into a more suitable type of fuel – ketones. Your body recognizes BHB ketones as natural and uses them for a variety of processes, including energy.

The amino acids l-leucine, l-lysine, and acetyl-l-carnitine all have fat-burning benefits. Collectively, they can help increase fat oxidation, boost your metabolic rate, provide you with non -caloric energy, and help control your blood glucose.

In addition, amino acids, which are derived from protein, can prevent muscle loss commonly associated with low-calorie diets. Muscle loss can slow down weight loss by lowering your resting metabolic rate.

Keto Plus contains a few additional ingredients which, while not connected to fat burning, are still relevant.

Stevia is a natural, sugar-free sweetener that won’t disrupt ketosis but ensures Keto Plus has a sweet, refreshing taste.

Monk fruit is another calorie-free sweetener.

Fruit and vegetable juices provide this product with its color, albeit naturally.

Citric and malic acid are acidity regulators.

Calcium silicate and silica are anti-caking agents that stop the loose powder turning into a solid, unusable block.

Natural flavors that vary depending on the variety.

Despite their chemical-sounding names, Keto Plus is made from 100% natural ingredients and is also vegetarian and vegan-friendly.

How to Use it Correctly

Keto Plus is very easy to use. Simply add one scoop to 8-12 ounces of water, stir well, and drink. Young active woman with cup of tea reading book and doing yoga exercise in the kitchenAlternatively, you can add it to other low-carb beverages, such as coconut water, non-sweetened soymilk, or vegetable juice.

It can be consumed anytime you need a non-stim, calorie-free energy boost, but it’s most useful at the following times:

  • First thing in the morning
  • As a no-calorie snack to ward off hunger
  • Before or after exercise
  • Before bed to prevent nighttime cravings

According to the manufacturer, you should not take more than two servings per day.

Benefits of Keto Plus

Keto Plus has several welcome benefits for low carb dieters. Those benefits include:

A faster descent into ketosis – your body contains a lot of carbohydrates and, until those carbs are depleted, you won’t enter ketosis. This can take anywhere between a few days to two weeks. The exogenous ketones in Keto Plus help jump-start ketone production so you can get into ketosis faster.

Shorter and less severe keto flu – keto flu is the term used to describe the symptoms commonly associated with getting into ketosis. These include headaches, cramps, lethargy, insomnia, and cravings. The exogenous ketones in Keto Plus will help reduce the duration and severity of keto flu.

Faster fat burning – the exogenous ketones in Keto Plus can help you burn fat faster. Your body makes ketones from fatty acids, and taking additional ketones increases natural ketone production. More exogenous ketones mean more endogenous ketones, and that means more fat being used for energy.

More energy – despite containing no calories or stimulants, Keto Plus will give you a welcome boost of energy. In place of carbs, your body can make great use of ketones, and taking Keto Plus will provide your body with the fuel it needs to get you through the day, even if you are eating fewer calories than usual.

Less hunger – the combination of ketones and amino acids can help prevent the hunger and cravings that could otherwise derail your diet. Hunger and cravings are real barriers to dietary compliance, and anything that makes sticking to your diet easier will be very welcome.

Side Effects

While Keto Plus is made from all-natural, stimulant-free ingredients, it can still cause side effects in some users. These side effects include:

  • Nausea
  • Diarrhea
  • Increased urinations
  • Constipation
  • Heart palpations

Any unwanted side effects should be short-lived. They can usually be avoided by not taking more than two servings of Keto Plus per day and reducing the size of your servings until any unwanted side effects have passed.

Bottom Line

Keto Plus is a very easy to use ketogenic diet supplement. However, if you aren’t doing keto, it won’t do anything for you. By providing your body with an abundance of ketones, your ketogenic diet will be much more productive, and you should experience fewer unwanted side effects, such as less keto flu.

Mixed with water or the carb-free beverage of your choice, this product makes increasing your ketone levels much easier. You can use Keto Plus once or twice a day to your ketogenic diet experience much more comfortable, not to mention effective too.

If this product has a downside, it is the flavor. Exogenous ketones have a salty, bitter taste that even the best keto diet products find hard to disguise. Keto Plus is one of the better tasting exogenous ketone drink mixes around, but you still won’t mistake it for soda! If you don’t like the taste, add the powder to more water to dilute it more. Alternatively, mix it with a non-carb beverage to mask the natural flavor.

Taste issues aside, Keto plus is a good product that will improve every aspect of your ketogenic diet.

With all that being said the reviews show that a lot of people are not completely satisfied with this product. As such we recommend the more popular and arguably better product Perfect Keto.

If you are looking for that boost to getting to ketosis faster and smoother we highly recommend checking out our review of Perfect Keto.
