Hamburgers are the ultimate keto food. Loaded with protein and fats and topped with cheese and pickles, they’re all but carb-free, not to mention delicious! That all changes when you put your burger into a bread bun. Just one hamburger roll will kick you out of ketosis and derail your weight loss.

While you can eat your burger without the bun, and many keto dieters to just that, there is no escaping that this takes some of the enjoyment away from this popular American meal.

This recipe for keto hamburger buns is quick and easy to make. Best of all, it’s 100% keto diet-friendly.

Keto Hamburger Buns

Ingredient for Six Servings

  • 3 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 2 ounces full fat cream cheese
  • 1 ¾ cups of finely ground almond flour
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1 tablespoon of baking powder
  • 1 tablespoon of sesame seeds

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit/200 degrees centigrade.
  2. Line a baking tray with parchment.
  3. Combine the cream and grated cheese in a microwavable bowl. Microwave in 20-second bursts until they’re melted. Whisk and then pour into a food processor.
  4. Add the flour, two eggs, and baking powder and process until a dough forms.
  5. Transfer to dough to a lightly almond floured surface and knead for 1-2 minutes.
  6. Divide the dough into six portions and form it into balls. Press down to make your individual burger buns.
  7. Crack the remaining egg into a small bowl and whisk. Brush the egg over the buns, and then sprinkle each one with sesame seeds.
  8. Bake for 15 minutes or until the tops turn golden brown.
  9. Allow cooling for 5-10 minutes before using.

Nutrition Per Serving

  • 250 calories
  • 19 grams of fat
  • 5 grams of protein
  • 3 grams of fiber
  • 2 grams of net carbs

Bottom Line

If you are fed up with eating your burgers minus the buns, this is the recipe for you. Yes, you could use something like Portobello mushrooms instead of bread buns, but that’s a pale imitation of the real thing.

Thankfully, you can make “real” burger buns using keto-friendly ingredients, literally having your keto-cake and eating it too!

These buns are low in net carbs, very filling, easy to make, and really tasty; everything a keto bread substitute should be. They’re also high in all-important fat that will help you lose weight even faster.
